Series History: Creighton tied with St. John's, 2-2-1
Creighton and St. John's have met five times previously, with each squad claiming two victories as well as one scoreless draw. The Bluejays are 0-1-1 in Queens, with both meetings in New York coming since joining the BIG EAST in 2013. Last season the Bluejays bested the Red Storm 2-0 in Omaha, but Creighton dropped a 4-0 decision two years ago on the road.

Scouting St. John's (4-5-1, 0-1-0 BIG EAST)
After starting the season with a 4-1-1 mark, the Red Storm have hit a rough patch over the last four matches. Not only has St. John's dropped four straight, the Red Storm have been shutout in their last three. Specifically St. John's has not scored in over 332 minutes (332:34).
St. John's returned seven starters and 19 letterwinners from a team that went 11-4-5 last season. In its BIG EAST opener on Sunday, the Red Storm pushed #15 Georgetown, but ultimately fell 1-0 on the road. St. John's was limited to just three shots in the match, yet held the Hoyas off the scoreboard until the 81st minute.
Beyond not scoring goals, the Red Storm offense has struggled to create opportunities with just seven shots combined in their last two contests. Christina Bellero leads the squad with 10 points (four goals and two assists) this season, while Lucy Whipp and Mariela Jacome are tied for second with four points (one goal and two assists).
Defensively the Red Storm have been stellar, holding the opposition to one goal or less in eight matches. Since allowing three goals in the first contest, the Red Storm have allowed just eight goals. Antonia Tammaro has taken over as the starting goalkeeper over the last three matches. In four contests she has allowed three goals for a 0.75 goals against average.
Bluejays Understand Red Storm's Scoring Woes
While St. John's is in the midst of a scoring slump of 332:34, the Bluejays can empathize as Creighton was held scoreless for the first 365:40 of the 2017 season.
Fothergill Notches First Goal as Bluejay
Freshman Keelie Fothergill collected her first goal as a Bluejay in Creighton's battle with Xavier on Sept. 24. Fothergill gathered a pass from sophomore Taryn Jakubowski along the right side of the goal box. Beating two defenders the Missouri native sliced a shot past the Musketeers keeper in the 71st minute to knot the match at 1-1.
Paule Carries New York Ties
While none of the Bluejays hail from the New York area, head coach Ross Paule spent two seasons (2001 and 2002) with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars (now known as the New York Red Bulls). In 36 matches with the MetroStars, Paule delivered eight points on two gaols and four assists. He also picked up six yellow cards and one red card. Â
Bluejay Defense Has Been Stingy Early
Through the ten matches, Creighton has allowed just two goals in the opening period of play, however the second came at Xavier on Sept. 24. It marked the first time this season that Creighton trailed at the half.
Youth Movement Carrying the Bluejays
Nine of the 11 Bluejays with at least one point during the 2017 season are either a freshman or sophomore. In addition, Creighton's keeper McKenzie Meola is just a sophomore.
