Baseball Falls at Charleston, 18-6

Charleston, S.C. -- Creighton Baseball fell to Charleston 18-6 on Saturday, March 1. The Cougars pushed across at least two runs in each inning except the first, plating eight in the final two at-bats
The loss evened the series with the Cougars as well as Creighton's seasons mark at 4-4. Charleston climbed to 7-3 overall.
Creighton took a 2-0 lead in the second, getting a sacrifice fly from Matt Scherrman and an RBI single from Dakota Duffalo. Charleston answer with two in the second, then got three in the third to claim a 5-2 edge.
Duffalo delivered his first home run as a Bluejay, a solo shot to left, but the Cougars added two in both the fourth and the fifth to build a 9-3 edge.
The final three runs for Creighton came on an RBI single by Tate Gillian in the sixth, an RBI single from Nate McHugh in the seveth and a sac fly from Jack Torosian in the seventh.
Bluejay starter Ian Koosman took the loss (0-2), allowing five runs on six hits in 2+ innings of work. Charleston Aiden Hunter earned the win (3-0), holding Creighton to four runs on eight hits in five innings.
McHugh and Ben North each closed the game with two hits for Creighton.
The Bluejays and Cougars play the rubber game of the set on Sunday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m.
