Vandewater and Gilman Earn BE Honors
Sophomore Tara Vandewater was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week and Audrey Gilman brough home BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors on April 20 following Creighton series sweep at preseason favorite St. John's last week.
This marks the first BIG EAST weekly honor of Vandewater's career as she joins Lily West (March 9) as the only two Bluejays to earn BIG EAST Player of the Week honors this season. In addition, Gilman is claiming her first BIG EAST weekly honor and is the third different Bluejay; Keegan Mayhue (March 2 & April 13) and Zoey Greenwood (March 9, March 23), to receive BIG EAST Freshman of the Week accolades this season.Â
Vandewater was sensational in the series sweep of St. John's, hitting .545 (6-for-11) with two doubles, two home runs (one grand slam), a BIG EAST-best 10 RBI and five runs scored, while posting an impressive 1.273 slugging percentage.
Gilman, meanwhile, was dominant in the circle, posting a 2-0 record with a 3.00 ERA and eight punchouts in 14.0 innings of work while guiding Creighton to its first series sweep of St. John's since joining the BIG EAST in 2014.
Gilman Heats Up
In her first season with the Bluejays, freshman Audrey Gilman has found her footing guiding a young Bluejay pitching staff in the circle.Â

Vandewater Nearly Hits For Cycle
Sophomore Tara Vandewater nearly became the first Bluejay in program history to hit for the cycle, finishing a career-day 3-for-4 with a single, double and home run while driving in a career-high six RBI.
The sophomore standout singled in the third and hit a grand slam home run in the fifth before capping off game with a stand-up double in the sixth.
Vandewater was the third Bluejay this season to nearly hit for the cycle as seniors Erika Perez and Lily West fell short of the feat against Seton Hall on March 6 and March 7.Â
Perez was a home run shy of the cycle on March 6th, going 4-for-5 with a single, double, triple and six RBI, while and West fell a triple shy of feat on March 7 when she went 4-for-4 with a single, two doubles and a home run.Â
Vandewater Rakes
Sophomore Tara Vandewater has been racked up the RBI all season long, pacing BIG EAST with 52 runs batted in this year after recording a BIG EAST-best 10 RBI last week at St. John's.
The Winterset, Iowa native collected a career-high six RBI, tied for the fourth-most in a single game in program history, while falling a triple shy of the cycle in last Saturday's 11-6 win over St. John's.

West Staying Durable
Senior catcher Lily West has been a fixture in the Bluejays starting lineup since stepping foot on campus in 2023 and is reaching uncharted territory as she has started in all 213 games of her Bluejay career.Â
Her 213 consecutive starts are the most consecutive starts by a Bluejay since Jessica Wakasugi started 216 straight games from 2006-09.Â
With her start against Seattle on March 26, West became just fourth Bluejay since 1999 to start 200 consecutive games, joining Heidi Geier (2001-04, 210 games), Lauren Cisneros (2003-06, 219 games) and Wakasugi (2006-09, 216 games). In addition, West became just the 15th Bluejay overall to start 200 career games since 1999.
Mayhue Bombs Away
Freshman Keegan Mayhue has proved to be a key contributor for Bluejays in her first season on the Hilltop.
The Elm Mott, Texas native has launched a team-high 11 home runs, becoming just the sixth freshman in program history to record double-digit homers during their freshman campaign.
The freshman phenom sits in a tie with Kiara Mills for the second-most home runs by a freshman in program history and a mere four homers shy of tying Amy Baker's freshman school record of 15 home runs in 2010.Â
