Eversman's Fourth Place Showing Leads Women's Golf To Top Five Finish

FLOSSMOOR, Ill. -- Senior Sarah Eversman's fourth place finish helped the Creighton women's golf team to a season-best fifth place showing at the Loyola Fall Invitational on Tuesday.

Eversman fired rounds of 78, 76 and 77 to post CU's first top-five individual finish since Kelsey Petersen placed second of 45 entrants at the South Dakota Coyote Classic on Sept. 21-22, 2015. It was Eversman's third career top-10 showing in 34 career meets, and the Scottsdale, Ariz., native has now fired rounds in the 70's in 11 of her last 12 circuits dating to the spring.

IUPUI's Aneta Abrahamova (76-74-72) won the 68-person meet by five shots with a 222 total on the par 72 course that measured 6,112 yards. Host Loyola (Chicago) won the team title by three shots over Butler with a 934 total. Montana (944), IUPUI (948) and Creighton (966) rounded out the top-five in the team standings. It was Creighton's first top-five finish as a squad since the UNO Invitational to open the 2016-17 season last September.

Freshman Margaret Hickey tied for 24th to finish as the No. 2 Creighton golfer in the meet. Hickey shot 80, 81 and 82 for a 243 aggregate.

Rachel Grenko tied for 30th with rounds of 81, 80 and 85. Tying for 39th place were freshman Amelia Lee (86-82-82=250) and junior Caroline Lake (82-82-86=250).

Creighton returns to the course on Oct. 1-3 at the Chip-N Club Invitational, which will be held at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb.
