Creighton has won four consecutive matches and is now 8-8 during the dual season
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's tennis team evened its dual record at 8-8 with a 7-0 sweep of Luther on Saturday afternoon at the Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb.
The Bluejays have won four consecutive matches dating back to the final day of their Spring Break trip to Florida (March 9).
Creighton dropped a total of five games on its way to sealing the doubles point. Alex Koca and Daniel Lopez-Rey won 6-1 at the No. 3 slot, while the No. 1 (Harrison Lang/Brooks Kendall) and No. 2 (Armando Gandini/Aaron Chalstrom) doubles teams each picked up 6-2 wins.
Gandini and Chalstrom have now won eight straight doubles matches and are 10-2 overall.
The Bluejays swept singles without dropping a set.
Lang (No. 2), Kendall (No. 3) and Jake Glazer (No. 5) each picked up their ninth singles victory during 2017 and share the team lead for individual wins.
"Our guys played well and did what we need to do against a scrappy team that played hard," head coach Tom Lilly said. "We will need to play a great match against a top team in the BIG EAST tomorrow."
Creighton will host Marquette at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Hanscom Tennis Center.
"We have had several close matches with Marquette and finally get to play them in our building," Lilly said. "I know our guys will come to play."
