Men’s Tennis Opens Competition at ITA Central Regional Championships

NORMAN, Okla. – The Creighton men's tennis team endured four tough losses but picked up a qualifying consolation singles win during the first day of competition at the 2025 ITA Central Regional on Thursday in Norman, Okla.
Freshman Mathis Dahler opened the action with a tight 6-3, 2-6, 6-7 (10-8) three-set tiebreaking loss during the qualifying singles Round of 64 on Wednesday, but bounced back to capture a 6-1, 6-3 straight-sets win over Drake's Arin Menon on Thursday afternoon.
Senior Zachary Kuo also battled deep into his singles qualifying match before falling to Oral Roberts Rodrigo Guijarro Martin in straight sets, while sophomore Rocky McKenzie dropped his Round of 64 Main Draw singles match against Wichita State's Pablo Roche Alcaya, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles play, Dahler and Kuo earned a bye into the Round of 32 but dropped its opening round to Oklahoma State's Nicolas Kobelt and Haydar Cem Gokpinar, 8-5.
Creighton will continue play at the ITA Central Regional on Friday, as McKenzie battles Oklahoma State's Derek Pham in a consolation singles match at 10:30 a.m.
