Women's Practice Facility
A new, $5 million women's practice gym will complete the east campus athletic corridor. Fewer student-athletes will miss practice because of tight gym and classroom schedules, and all Bluejay student-athletes will benefit. Designed primarily for volleyball and women's basketball, this facility acknowledges the hardworking, talented coaches and student-athletes Creighton hopes to retain. Furthermore, Creighton Athletics is looking forward to sharing this facility with the entire Omaha community.In recent years, both the Creighton women's basketball and volleyball teams have achieved incredible success on the national stage. The Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center and D.J. Sokol Arena have been the home to our women's basketball and volleyball programs since 2009. The addition of these facilities has been pivotal to the Bluejays' decorated success.
Aligning with Creighton Athletics' mission of recruiting, retaining, developing and graduating outstanding student-athletes, this new facility will be a vital developmental resource for both programs. It will provide an alternative 16,109 square-foot space to ensure both programs have ample court time to develop as a team and individual athletes. As volleyball continues to expand its season by more than a month, having a designated practice gym will alleviate scheduling challenges, as well as provide ideal practice times for both programs as their competition seasons overlap.
In addition, the space will provide more opportunity for the Creighton community to host additional special events at the Ryan Athletic Center during normal practice times. This facility also sends a strong national message showing Creighton Athletics' dedication to women's athletics, our student-athletes and coaches. Construction on the new facility is scheduled to begin in early 2018.
By contributing to the Women's Practice Facility, you are helping the Creighton University women's basketball and volleyball programs continue to compete for BIG EAST Conference and national titles, while continuing to excel in recruiting talented student-athletes.
Major gifts of $25,000 or more are payable over a five year period and may qualify for naming recognition. All gifts are processed by the Creighton University Development Office (501c3) and are deductible from income tax to the amount fully allowable by law, which is generally 100%.

Success of Volleyball and Women's Basketball
The volleyball team continued their success through the 2018 season
and captured their fifth consecutive BIG EAST regular-season and tournament title after being ranked in the top 20 of the AVCA poll throughout the entire season. The Bluejays made the Sweet 16 in 2015 and the Elite Eight in 2016, before earning the No. 9 national seed again this year, and hosting the NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds for the second straight season. Creighton earned a first-round victory and ended its season during the second round in front of a packed crowd at D.J. Sokol Arena.The women's basketball team is also poised for another great year in 2018. In the 2017-18 season, the program extended its postseason streak to 11 consecutive seasons, reaching the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. After receiving an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament, the Bluejays defeated No. 6 seed Iowa in round one before falling to No. 3 seed UCLA in round two.
