Men's Soccer Earns a 1-1 Draw at Villanova

Villanova, Pa. -- After watching a review grant Villanova a penalty kick in the 75th minute of a scoreless contest, Creighton Men's Soccer earned a 1-1 draw with a goal in the 84th minute from Bautista Rossi on Friday, October 17.
Friday's result moved Creighton to 3-1-1 in BIG EAST play and 7-3-3 on the season, while Villanova moved to 4-4-5 overall and 1-1-3 in conference action.
Villanova broke the deadlock in the 75th minute when Marcello Mazzola converted a penalty kick into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Wildcats a 1-0 advantage.

Pressing to find the equalizer, Creighton was rewarded with 83:14 on the clock as Bautista Rossi delivered with a right-footed shot to the bottom center of the goal. The play developed through a well-timed sequence from Martin Herrera and Miguel Arilla, who earned assists on the tying strike. Despite late chances from both sides, the match ended even at 1-1, marking Creighton's third draw of the season.
Creighton controlled much of the attacking play, outshooting Villanova 18-7 and posting an eight-to-one edge in shots on goal. The Bluejays also earned eight corner kicks compared to the Wildcats' two.
The Bluejays return to the pitch on Saturday, October 25 at Butler with a scheduled start of 12:00 pm (CT).
