Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth at Oz Memorial

Bluejays place a pair in the top-15
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Creighton men's cross country team placed fifth at the Oz Memorial held at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minneapolis, Minn., on Friday evening.
Jacob Ohnstad led Creighton with an 11th-place finish, completing the 4-mile course in a time of 21:00.6. It's the second straight weekend that he's been CU's top performer. He finished three seconds ahead of teammate Spencer De Jong (21:03.2), who placed 13th.
Sophomore Chase Howard clocked a time of 21:44.1, good for 36th, while classmates Nate Fedel (22:04.7; 48th) and Nick Monkemeyer (22:07.2; 49th) wrapped up the Bluejay scoring.
Also competing but not factoring into CU's team score were senior Jake Landreth (59th; 22:55.3) and junior Ty Medd (60th; 23:07.0).
South Dakota State won the six-team meet with a team score of 35 to outlast Drake, which had 51. SDSU junior Kyle Burdick topped the field of 66 competitors with a final time of 19:55.7. Ten of the participants competed unattached.
Creighton returns to the course on Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Woody Greeno/Dirksen Cross-Country Invitational. The men's race begins at 10:45 a.m. and will be held at Pioneers Park in Lincoln, Neb.
