Megan Ballenger Named to Shocker Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team

Sophomore led Creighton with 28 kills over the weekend
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton's Megan Ballenger has been named to the All-Tournament Team at the Shocker Volleyball Classic.
A middle blocker from Ankeny, Iowa, Ballenger led Creighton with 28 kills over the weekend while hitting .357. She added five blocks, four digs and four assists in two matches.
The sophomore had a career-high 16 kills in Friday's match at Wichita State, hitting .500 in 26 swings. She followed that up 22 hours later with 12 kills and three blocks against No. 19 Iowa State.
For the season, Ballenger averages 2.28 kills and 0.72 blocks per set on .313 hitting.
The recognition is the second All-Tournament Team accolade this fall for Ballenger, joining the honors she won at the season-opening Husky Invitational.
Creighton (7-4) went 0-2 at the event, which was won by Iowa State (9-1). The No. 19 Cyclones followed up Saturday's five-set win over Creighton with a 25-21, 37-35, 25-23 victory over host Wichita State (8-3) on Sunday.
Iowa State's Jess Schaben was named MVP, and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by ISU teammates Hali Hilligas and Monique Harris. Mikaela Raudsepp and Giorgia Civita represented WSU on the All-Tournament Team.
Creighton opens BIG EAST Conference play on Friday night at 7 p.m. when it hosts Georgetown.
