The Mavericks return six starters and 12 letterwinners from a squad that went 5-11-3 last season. The biggest change for UNO, however, was the hiring of Tim Walters as head coach. An assistant for the men's team last season, Walters has UNO playing with renewed passion in his first season.
After dropping their first four matches of the season, the Mavericks collected a 0-0 draw with North Dakota on Sept. 1 and used that momentum to collect consecutive victories over Missouri State (2-1 in overtime) on Sept. 8 as well as a 1-0 win at UMKC on Sept. 10.
Abby Meader and Natalie Johnson guide the UNO offense as each have two goals, the only goals for the Mavericks in 2017.
The Nebraska-Omaha defense has allowed just one goal in its last three matches, guided by goalkeeper Erin Bunker's 1.79 goals against average.
Bluejay Defense Has Been Stingy Early
Through the first eight matches, Creighton has allowed just one goal in the opening period of play.
