Men's and Women's Tennis Claim 2017 ITA All-Academic Awards

Both teams honored, seven men's individuals, three women's individuals
TEMPE, Ariz -- The Creighton men's and women's tennis teams each earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team awards, while seven Bluejay men and three CU women were honored individually, the ITA announced on Tuesday, July 25.Â
The Bluejay men's tennis team wrapped up the 2016-17 academic year with a 3.71 team GPA. The men were also recognized earlier in July by the BIG EAST Conference with a 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Award. Individually, Armando Gandini, Brooks Kendall, Michael Koch, Daniel Lopez-Rey, Aaron Chalstrom, Jake Glazer and Harrison Lang earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
The Creighton women's squad closed this past academic year with a 3.559 team GPA. Kendra Lavallee, Ashley Monaco and Darby Rosette also claimed ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
A total of 720 teams and 3,908 student-athletes across all five divisions of college tennis were honored.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2016 and spring 2017).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
