Men's Tennis Honored By BIG EAST For Academic Excellence

NEW YORK -- The Creighton men's tennis team was recognized by the BIG EAST Conference on Wednesday, July 19 with a 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Award for attaining the highest combined GPA as a men's tennis squad in the conference.
The Bluejay men's tennis team earned a 3.70 GPA, which included two individuals with perfect 4.0 GPA's for the entire year.Â
The BIG EAST Conference recognized 22 teams with 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Awards for having the highest collective grade-point averages in each conference sport.
Nine different schools had at least one team honored, with DePaul leading the league with eight awards. Seton Hall had four, while Villanova earned three and St. John's claimed two honorees. Butler, Creighton, Marquette, Temple and Denver each had one award winner.Â
The winners were chosen based on the 2016-17 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.
