Lacy selected in 11th Round by Chicago Cubs, Rogalla chosen by Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim during 12th Round
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton junior pitcher Rollie Lacy was selected in the 11th round by the Chicago Cubs, and junior pitcher Keith Rogalla was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 12th round during the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday, June 14.

Lacy and Rogalla are the 24th and 25th Creighton draft selections since Ed Servais took over as head coach in 2004. This year also marks the second consecutive season in which two Bluejays were selected in the 12th round or earlier, as Nicky Lopez was selected in the fifth round by the Kansas City Royals and Daniel Woodrow was selected in the 12th round by the Detroit Tigers during the 2016 MLB Draft.

A three-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Lacy went 5-2 with a 2.54 ERA in 15 starts during the 2017 season. He led the Bluejay staff with 83 strikeouts and walked only 18 in a team-high 88.2 innings. He also posted a 1.59 ERA in 39.2 innings during league action.

Lacy is the third Creighton baseball player to be named First Team All-Conference in three consecutive seasons, as future MLB players Kevin Frederick (1996-98) and Scott Stahoviak (1989-91) each made the Missouri Valley Conference First Team. Lacy also became just the third pitcher in BIG EAST history to be named to the All-Conference First Team in three straight seasons. Boston College's Chris Lambert (2002-04) and Notre Dame's Aaron Heilman (1999-2001) accomplished a similar feat. Both Lambert and Heilman eventually reached the Major Leagues.
During three seasons in Omaha, Lacy went 20-5 with a 2.80 ERA and 188 strikeouts. The Minnetrista, Minn., native, appeared in 49 games, and made 43 starts while accumulating 254.1 innings on the mound.

Rogalla, a Second Team All-BIG EAST selection, finished with 70 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched over 12 starts during the 2017 season. He also held opponents to a .231 batting average.

Rogalla went 1-1 with a 3.03 ERA during four conference starts with 29 strikeouts to eight walks in 29.2 innings and helped lead the Bluejays to their second BIG EAST regular-season title in the past four seasons.
The junior recorded 11 wins, 166 strikeouts and a 3.81 ERA in 203.1 innings pitched over three seasons at Creighton.
This is the second time the right-handed pitcher has been drafted, as the Oak Park, Ill., native was selected in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies but choose to attend Creighton.

The Bluejays finished 2017 with a 24-25 record, including a 11-4 mark in league action on their way to a regular-season conference crown.

Three players formerly coached by Servais have reached the Majors -- Pat Venditte (Oakland A's, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners), Darin Ruf (Philadelphia Philllies), and Ty Blach (San Francisco Giants).
