OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior Sam Crowley of the Creighton softball team has been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District VII Softball First Team.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Crowley will move on to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team Ballot where All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Crowley owns 33 starts in the outfield for the Bluejays and has played in 42 games overall this season. She claims a .221 batting average in 86 at-bats, and is hitting .318 with seven hits, including three doubles, during BIG EAST play. The junior has 11 RBIs -- seven during conference action -- and hit her first career home run last week against South Dakota. Â
In the classroom, the Green Bay, Wis., native holds a 3.98 GPA while studying neuroscience. She has claimed a spot on Creighton's Dean's List during each of her semesters at Creighton.Â
Crowley gives the Bluejay softball program two All-District selections during the past two seasons, as Sydnee Eck earned a spot on the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District VII First Team.
Creighton (18-29, 8-10 BIG EAST) concludes the regular season with a three-game series against DePaul in Chicago beginning on Saturday at Cacciatore Stadium. First pitch of a doubleheader on Saturday is scheduled for noon.
