Women's Tennis Set To Begin BIG EAST Championships As No. 8 Seed

Bluejays will play ninth-seeded Butler on Thursday at 9 a.m.
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's tennis team earned the No. 8 seed in the women's bracket of the 2017 BIG EAST Men's and Women's Tennis Championships Presented by Jeep, which will be played Thursday, April 27 through Sunday, April 30 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C.
The Bluejays will face ninth-seeded Butler at 9 a.m. Eastern (8 a.m. Central) on Thursday, April 27.
Seeds are determined by the conference's tennis championship and coaches' s seeding advisory committees that review each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.
Creighton also received an eight-seed for the 2016 BIG EAST Championships and picked up a the program's first win at the BIG EAST Championships with a 4-0 win over Providence. The victory also marked the school's first at a league championship since a win over Bradley in 2009 at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
Creighton ended the 2017 regular season at 12-9, including a 5-2 victory over Nebraska Omaha to wrap up the schedule on Saturday afternoon. Michaela Henne leads the team with a 17-4 singles record, while doubles teams of Ashley Ishimura and Darby Rosette (No. 1) and Claire Embree and Hylan Miller (No. 3) each own 11 victories in doubles competition.
