Softball Series with Arkansas-Pine Bluff Cancelled Due To Weather and Safety Concerns

OMAHA, Neb. -- Due to forecast calling for freezing conditions throughout the weekend, including possible snow on Saturday, the Creighton and Arkansas-Pine Bluff softball teams have mutually agreed to cancel the Bluejays' first home series of 2017.
Slated to begin their three-game series on Saturday, March 11 at 12 p.m., Creighton head coach Brent Vigness and Golden Lions' skipper Kevin Montgomery cited the likelihood of unplayable conditions as well as player safety concerns as the reason for the decision.
Additionally, the temperature for the weekend is not forecasted to be above an agreeable playing wind chill of 32 degrees.Â
The series will not be rescheduled.
Tickets for the canceled games can be redeemed for any remaining regular season home games at the Creighton Ticket Office located inside the Ryan Athletic Center (open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays).
The Bluejays return to action on Friday, March 17 as Creighton opens play at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa against South Dakota at 2:30 p.m. before facing Valparaiso at 5 p.m.
Creighton will now open its home schedule on Wednesday, March 22 against Drake. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
