Series History
Creighton leads the series with Air Force, 20-7. During the Servais era the Bluejays hold a 6-3 edge on the Falcons, taking the last two meetings. The last battle between the two squads was a 14-inning affair in 2015. Creighton won the contest, 4-3.
Scouting Air Force (4-6)
The Falcons dropped three straight over the weekend to New Mexico in the Mountain West opening series for Air Force. Playing at home for the first time this season the Falcons surrendered 59 runs in the three-game series, while the offense put up 28 runs against New Mexico.
Air Force enters the two-game series with a high-powered offense, hitting .304 as a team. Tyler Zabojnik leads the way for the Falcons, hitting .526 with three home runs and 10 RBI.
Pitching has been the issue for the Falcons as the squad has a combined ERA of 9.00.
Creighton Goes to a Hitter's Haven in Colorado, then Returns to Pitcher's Paradise
There is no better place for a struggling offense to find themselves than the thin air of Colorado. The Bluejays will hope to do just that in this two-game tussle with Air Force. Creighton will contend with two extremes during the week as the Bluejays open their home schedule on Friday in TD Ameritrade Park Omaha against CSU Baksersfield.
Bluejays Off By the Slimest of Margins
After going 13-7 in one-run games last season, the Bluejays are 0-5 in one-run contests in early portion of this season. Three seperate times in the first nine games, Creighton has rallied to tie a game in the ninth inning to force extra innings. Each time, however, Creighton's opponent hit last and claimed the game with a run in the tenth. Those fortunes could change as the Bluejays open their home schedule on Friday. Creighton was 22-4 in the friendly confines of TD Ameritrade Park Omaha last season.
Only Keeps Bluejays Twice in Texas
Bryce showed his clutch nature against the Wildcats this weekend, delivering game-tying hits in the ninth inning in each of the first two games with Abilene Christian. Only hit .417 (5-for-12) during the series, blasting a two-run home in the ninth on Friday, then delivering the game-tying run again with a single on Saturday. Saturday afternoon Bryce connected for RBI singles in both the eighth and the ninth frames as the Bluejays' battled back from a 7-3 deficit to force extra innings. Only had a hand in six of the Bluejays' 10 runs in the series, with four RBI and two runs scored.
