Darby Rosette Claims BIG EAST Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Honors

Rosette is the second Bluejay honored in as many weeks
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton women's tennis junior Darby Rosette claimed this week's BIG EAST Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Rosette finished last week 3-0 in singles play, including two three-set victories. The Portland, Ore. native's 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (5) win at No. 4 singles clinched Creighton's 4-3 victory over South Dakota (March 18). She also won 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 against North Dakota's Sophie Allen-Fisher during Creighton's 6-1 win over the Fighting Hawks (March 17).
Rosette currently holds a five-match winning streak and is 8-8 overall. The junior is 5-1 at the No. 4 singles position.
In doubles action, Rosette paired with Ashley Ishimura for a 2-1 record at the top doubles position during the Bluejays' 3-0 weekend. The pair is 10-4 at the No. 1 position, including eight victories in its last nine matches.
This week marks the second consecutive in which a Creighton women's tennis athlete was honored with player of the week status. Michaela Henne earned Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week status on March 15.
The Bluejays return to the courts this weekend for two home matches. Creighton hosts South Dakota State on Friday at 11:45 a.m. before facing Colorado State on Saturday at 1 p.m. Â
