Women's Tennis Sweeps Doane To Pick Up 10th Victory

The Bluejays did not drop a set on the way to their fifth consecutive win
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's tennis team swept Doane 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb for its 10th dual victory during the 2017 season.
Sunday's match marked Creighton's second home match this season. The Bluejays will play four of their final matches of the regular season in Omaha.
The Creighton women lost only three games during doubles play to pick up the doubles point.
Ashley Ishimura and Darby Rosette paired up for their 10th doubles victory at the No. 1 position, while Claire Embree and Hylan Miller clinched their ninth victory overall as a pair and eighth at No. 3.
Both Katherine Nelsen (No. 3) and Rosette (No. 4) did not drop a single game during straight-sets singles victories.
Michaela Henne recorded her 10th consecutive singles victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and improved to 13-3, while Embree picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 for her seventh consecutive victory and ninth in her last 10 matches.
Ishimura sealed the fourth victory in her last five outings at the No. 1 position with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
"I'm impressed that we are 10-6 at this point, while playing a pretty tough schedule," head coach Tom Lilly said. "Our girls have won more of the close matches this year.
"We need to keep working hard to reach our goals and finish strong in the next month and a half."
Creighton's next match is scheduled for Friday, March 24 at home against South Dakota State at 11 a.m.
