Game 1: South Dakota State 4, Creighton 3 (8 innings)
South Dakota State upended Creighton, 4-3 in eight innings, in the first game of the day.
Bluejay freshman Sam Dellinger retired the first nine batters she faced in order before Emily Ensrud singled to lead off the fourth inning. Ensrud and Ali Herdliska would come around to score on a two-out double by Brittney Morse as the Jackrabbits jumped to a 2-0 lead.
Creighton cut the deficit in half with a two-out home run from Jordyn Sturgeon in the bottom of the fourth inning. It was the second round-tripper of the season for the South Dakota State transfer.
The Bluejays tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dellinger doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt before coming home to score on Mikaela Pechar's double down the left field line.
Neither team would score in the seventh frame before the teams enacted the international tiebreaker rule to start the eighth inning.
SDSU went up 3-2 when Lyndsey Crist had a sacrifice fly to score Dana Chavez. Herdliska later scored on an RBI double by Morse that would prove to be the final margin.
After two quick outs to start the eighth inning, Allie Reinhart doubled to score Ashley Cantu from second base, but pinch-runner Sydney Jenkins would be stranded at second on a Sturgeon groundout to end the contest.
SDSU's Abby Deane improved to 7-9, scattering seven hits while allowing just three runs (two earned). Dellinger (1-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing eight hits and four runs (three earned) in a four-strikeout day.
Tash Coffiel paced the Bluejay offense with a pair of singles.
Game 2: South Dakota 7, Creighton 0
In Creighton's second game of the day, the Bluejays fell behind 3-0 before recording an out and lost 7-0 to South Dakota.
