OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's cross country team has been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an All-Academic Team for the 2016 cross country season.
Coached by Matt Rogers, the Bluejay women owned a 3.74 GPA last fall. That figure tied for the eighth-best mark in the nation, and matched DePaul for the best mark in the BIG EAST.
All 12 women on the Bluejay roster own a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better, with eight earning a 3.70 GPA or better last fall.
Creighton finished seventh in the 2016 BIG EAST Women's Cross Country Championships.
Teams needed a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) to be honored. Overall, there were 431 teams that earned distinction from the USTFCCCA for their efforts both athletically and academically. Of those 431 teams, 242 were women's and 189 were men's.
