The loss dropped Creighton to 1-4 on the season, while Michigan moved to 4-2 overall.
Michigan claimed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first by taking advantage of a hit batter, a double and an RBI ground out.
The Bluejays pulled even with a run in the third, getting one run on four hits and a wild pitch. Senior Ben Reznicek laced a one-out single to center, then went to second via a wild pitch. Freshman Clark Brinkman stroked a single to right, but Reznicek was gunned down at the plate. Sophomore Thomas Luevano picked up his teammate with an RBI double to left-center.
Michigan wasted little time responding as the Wolverines plated four runs on four hits and a hit batter. Michigan added another run in the sixth to stretch its lead to 6-1.
The Bluejay comeback began in the bottom of the seventh with singles by Will Robertson and Brinkman. Luevano was hit by a pitch to load the bases, then Emodi ripped a two-run single to left field to make it 6-3.
Still down three runs in the bottom of the ninth, Reznicek was hit for the third time, then Luevano drew a two-out walk to bring the tying run to the plate in the form of Emodi. After fouling off three of the first four pitches, Emodi crushed his second home run of the season over the left field wall.
Michigan, however, was able to reclaim the lead in the top of the 10th by taking advantage of a walk, an error and a wild pitch.
Creighton starter Keith Rogalla allowed four runs on three hits and five walks in 3.1 innings. Senior David Gerber suffered the loss (0-1), allowing an unearned run in one inning of work.
Michigan's Jackson Lamb picked up the win (1-0), holding the Bluejays to just two hits in 1.1 innings of relief.
Offensively Emodi was dominant for the Bluejays, going 3-for-4 with five RBI in the loss.
Creighton wraps up play in the Santa Clara tournament on Sunday, Feb. 26 as the Bluejays battle Saint Louis at 1:00 pm (CT).
