Women's Tennis Falls To Central Arkansas In Springfield

The Bluejays dropped a match to the unbeaten Sugar Bears in a neutral site match
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Creighton women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Central Arkansas on Saturday morning at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
The Bluejays are now 3-5, and the Sugar Bears remain undefeated at 8-0.
Central Arkansas claimed the doubles point and earned victories at the top three singles positions.
After falling 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, Creighton evened doubles action with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 from Ashley Ishimura and Darby Rosette.
The Sugar Bears won 6-4 in the No. 3 slot to take the first team point.
"Doubles was just a couple of points from being ours, and our No. 1 played up to their potential today," head coach Tom Lilly said.
Central Arkansas won in straight-sets at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles to clinch to overall dual.
The Bluejays did not go quietly, ending the morning with victories in the final three completed matches.
Michaela Henne picked up her second victory of the weekend with a 6-3, 7-5 win and improved to 5-2 this season when playing in the No. 4 slot.
Hylan Miller earned her second consecutive win at No. 5. The senior outlasted Marli Van Heerden in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.
Claire Embree won in straight-sets at No. 6 to close the final gap in the overall match to a single point.
"We picked up good wins by our four through six, showing our depth today," Lilly said.
Henne, Miller and Embree are tied for Creighton's lead with five singles victories during the dual season.
