Women's Tennis Drops Dual Against Undefeated Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Creighton women's tennis fell to in-state foe Nebraska 7-0 at the Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb. on Sunday afternoon.
The Bluejays dropped to 2-4 in dual competition and the Huskers remained unbeaten at 7-0.
Sunday's match marked Creighton's third at the Dillon Tennis Center over the course of nine days.
Nebraska took the doubles point with convincing victories at both the No. 1 and No. 3 slots. Mary Hanna and Paula Del Cueto Castillo defeated Ashley Ishimura and Darby Rosette 6-0 at No. 1, and Katerina Matysova and Jeannie Lozowski picked up a 6-1 win over Michaela Henne and Kendra Lavallee at No. 3.
The Huskers picked up straight-sets victories at all six singles positions to complete the sweep of the Bluejays.
Nebraska cruised to victories at No. 3 (6-0, 6-1) and No. 6 (6-2, 6-2) singles, but the Bluejays held tough at the other four positions.
Henne came close to sealing a victory in the opening set at No. 4 before falling 6-4 in the first frame. Jeannie Lozowski sealed the dual victory with a 6-3 win in the second for the Huskers' fourth point.
Ishimura went back-and-forth with the Huskers' top singles player in set number one and played to a 3-3 tie, but Claire Reifeis took the first set 6-3 and second 6-2.
Nebraska ended the match with wins at No. 5 (6-3, 6-3) and No. 2 (6-2, 6-3).

"We ran into a very strong Husker team in their fantastic facility," head coach Tom Lilly said. "We weren't able to get much going in doubles and lost some deuce points early that may have changed the outcomes.
"In singles we competed well throughout the line up but Nebraska is well coached and played strong. Hopefully we obtained some more experience and will continue to improve."
