Baseball Picked to Finish Third in BIG EAST Preseason Poll

Emodi Named to All-BIG EAST Preseason Squad
New York, N.Y. --- The defending BIG EAST champion Creighton baseball team will enter the 2018 season with a little extra motivation as the Bluejays were picked to finish third in the preseason coaches poll released on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
St. John's was picked to win the BIG EAST with 35 points (five first place votes), while Xavier was slotted second with 30 points. The Bluejays came in third with 24 votes, while Seton Hall (23 point), Butler (18 points), Georgetown (11 points) and Villanova (six points) rounded out the poll.
The lone Bluejay selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team was junior catcher Michael Emodi. The Omaha native closed the 2017 season as an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, hitting .270 with nine home runs and 39 RBI.
Creighton opens the 2018 season on Feb. 16 with a three-game series at Northeastern.
