OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Volleyball team has been ranked 16th in the year-end American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, which was released on Monday.
It is the fourth time that Creighton has owned a spot in the year-end top 25, and third straight campaign. CU was previously 24th in 2012, 19th in 2015 and ninth in 2016.
The Bluejays finished the 2017 season with a 26-7 record and won their fourth consecutive BIG EAST regular-season and tournament titles. In the NCAA Tournament, Creighton topped Coastal Carolina before falling to eventual quarterfinalist Michigan State in the Second Round.
The Bluejays have now been ranked in 36 all-time polls, and are one of 14 clubs to be ranked in each of the last 22 editions. CU has been in every poll since Oct. 31, 2016.
The Bluejays, who played the nation's fourth-toughest non-conference schedule according to the NCAA, faced seven teams that are ranked in this week's poll (No. 6 Kentucky, No. 7 USC, No. 8 Michigan State, No. 15 Washington, No. 18 Purdue, No. 23 Wichita State and No. 25 Iowa State).
Creighton is one of just 11 programs to be ranked in the year-end AVCA poll each of the previous three seasons, a list that consists of BYU, Creighton, Florida, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, Washington and Wisconsin.
In other polls released on Monday, Creighton was also 12th in the final VolleyMob.com poll of the season. Creighton was also 14th in the year-end RPI released by the NCAA.
