Scouting South Dakota (0-1)
Just over one season removed from claiming the WNIT Championship, the Coyotes are a very different squad than the one that took down the Bluejays in the opening round of the 2015-16 Tournament. Just five players remain on the squad, led by Caitlin Duffy who started 31
contests that season.
Since that time the Coyotes have changed their head coach, turning to Dawn Plitzuweit.
In their first game this season the Coyotes fought Iowa State valiantly before falling 81-76 in a road contest. South Dakota led 40-37 at the half and took a 54-51 edge into the final period.
The Coyotes strength has typically been their post play, that did not change against Iowa State as South Dakota got 34 points in the paint. The Coyotes also shot the ball extremely well from distance, going 9-of-26 (34.6%) from beyond the arc.
