Omaha, Neb. -- Sophomore McKenzie Meola claimed Creighton's first BIG EAST weekly honor for women's soccer in 2017, earning the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week nod on Monday, Oct. 9.

The sophomore made a league-high 14 saves, highlighted by a nine-save outing at No. 12 Georgetown on Thursday afternoon. The Hoyas were limited to just one goal, despite averaging 3.2 scores per game over five BIG EAST contests and firing away with 36 shots. On Sunday against Seton Hall, Meola's only blemish was a penalty kick called in the 87th minute.
The Bluejays and Meola return to action on Sunday, Oct. 15 as Creighton hosts Villanova at 1:00 pm. Prior to the match the Bluejays will honor seniors Darby Hugunin and Mackenzie Graybill in Creighton's senior day festivities.
