College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point of average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster. It is the eighth consecutive season that the women's team has earned the NSCAA team academic award (2010-2016) as well as the 19th time in the last 21 seasons. The men's squad claimed its ninth honor in the last ten seasons (2008-12, 2014-16).
United Soccer Coaches annually recognize college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 813 collegiate teams (282 men, 531 women) earned the Team Academic Award. Among these programs 195 schools had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients, including the Bluejays.
Nine of the 10 BIG EAST Conference schools saw both the men's and women's team earn the NSCAA's Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year.
