Men's Golf Finishes Fall in 12th Place in Florida

Mason Jensen and Bradley Keyer tie for 38th place in weather-shortened event
ESTERO, Fla.- The Creighton Men's Golf team finished 12th in the 2017 Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic. The competition was held at the Corkscrew Golf Club, a 6,718-yard par-72 course. Due to inclement weather, the three-round tournament was shortened to two rounds.

The Bluejays finished with a team score of 677 (346-331) to finish seven strokes behind St. Bonaventure (338+332=670) and eight strokes in front of Bryant (340+345=685) in the 13-team field.
Creighton was led by juniors Bradley Keyer and Mason Jensen, Keyer finished tied for 38th with a score of 168 (83-85). Jensen shot rounds of 88 and 80 putting him even with Keyer in his first action of the fall. Following those two was senior Charlie Bolton, with a score of 170 (89-81) to finish tied for 45th place.

Finishing up the team's score are freshman Nate Vontz and sophomore Andrew McCormick. Vontz finished tied for 49th with a total of 172 (87-85), while McCormick finished tied for 54th with a total of 174 (88-86).

Nationally-ranked UCF finished in first place at the meet with a total score of 624 (316-308). Behind UCF was Keiser finishing with a team score of 636 (327-309) for second place. Florida Atlantic finished right behind Keiser with a score of 637 (327-310).

Daniel Brennan of Bethune-Cookman was the individual winner of the tournament with a score of 151 (75-76). Three strokes behind Brennan was Alejandro Restrepo of South Dakota State, with consecutive rounds of 77 he finished with a total of 154.

This was the last completion for the team this fall.
