Series History: Creighton tied with Providence, 2-2-0
Creighton and Providence have split their four meetings since becoming BIG EAST foes prior to the 2013 season. Creighton took the first two contests, but have dropped the last two. Each meeting has been a one goal affair, with two contests needing extra time.
10/3/13   at Providence   W, 3-2
10/2/14   Providence   W, 2-1 (2ot)
10/17/15   Providence   L, 2-3
10/15/16   at Providence   L, 0-1 (ot)
Scouting Providence (10-6-1, 5-2-1 BIG EAST)
With four victories and one tie in their last five contests, the Friars are peaking as the season comes to a close. Providence has already clinched a berth in the BIG EAST Tournament, yet there is plenty to play for on Thursday. Just one point behind Georgetown for the top spot in the conference, the Friars can win the league outright with a victory and a little help.
Since getting outscored 7-0 in the opening three matches of the season, Providence has outscored its opponents 21-10. During its last five matches the Friars have allowed two goals, while scoring six.
Providence's scoring comes from all angles as seven players are tied for the team lead with two goals. The point leader for the Friars is Hannah McNuly. She enters the final match of the season with two goals and a team-best three assists for seven points.
Defensively the Friars have seven shutouts this season, including three of their last four matches. Shelby Hogan has been in goal for all but 18 minutes this season, collecting all seven shutouts and entering the match on Thursday with a 0.92 goals against average.
Meola's 15 Saves Against Marquette, Just One Shy of School Record
Goalkeeper McKenzie Meola saved 15 shots in a 3-0 loss to Marquette on Oct. 22, just one shy of the single-game record of 16 saves by Denise Zaver in 1991. Zaver's 16 save effort came against Colorado College on Setp. 14, 1991.
Meola's 111 Saves this Season Ranks Second All-Time and is 7th in NCAA
Meola's 111 saves is also just behind Zarver for saves in a season as she claimed 146 saves in 1990.
McKenzie currently sits in seventh in the NCAA, just one back of sixth (112) and 12 saves behind the co-leaders of Taylor Sebolao (Towson) and Faith Jennings (Jackson State). Both Sebolao and Jennings have 123 saves.
One More for Meola, She Has Faced More Shots Than Ever Before
Entering the final match of the season, the Bluejays have allowed 348 shots in 17 matches. That total shatters the former program record of 319 shots allowed in 2008.
