OMAHA, Neb. -- Recent Creighton University graduates Cole Huff and Isaiah Zierden were selected in the 2017 NBA G League Draft, which was conducted on Saturday, October 21st.
Huff was a first round pick (No. 16 overall) by the Greensboro Swarm, an affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets. Zierden was a third-round pick (No. 64 overall) of the Delaware 87ers, an affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers.
The duo combined to make 295 three-pointers with the Bluejays on 39.5 percent marksmanship from downtown.
Huff redshirted the 2014-15 season at Creighton after spending the first two years of college at the University of Nevada. Huff averaged 11.3 points per game as a junior at CU, then pumped in 9.1 per outing last winter. The Altadena, Calif., native started 58-of-70 games at CU, and ranks ninth in Creighton history with 40.6 percent shooting from three-point range.
Zierden redshirted the 2012-13 season, then scored 769 points with the Bluejays over the previous four seasons. He ranks 10th in Creighton history with 171 career three-pointers, and also made 87.0 percent of his 161 career free throw attempts. The Minneapolis, Minn., native also boasted 153 assists compared to just 68 turnovers in 114 games at Creighton.
Creighton finished last season 25-10, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in six seasons. The Bluejays also tied for third place in the BIG EAST standings, then reached the BIG EAST Tournament finals, during a campaign that saw the program be ranked for 16 consecutive weeks.
Other BIG EAST selections in the 2017 G League Draft were Malcolm Bernard (Xavier), Kris Jenkins (Villanova), Dominic Cheek (Villanova), Kethan Savage (Butler), Derrick Wilson (Marquette) and Wally Ellenson (Marquette). Former Omaha Central High School and University of Nebraska-Omaha guard Tra-Deon Hollins was drafted by Fort Wayne.
