Volleyball Moves Up To 12th In AVCA Poll

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Volleyball team rose two spots to 12th in the AVCA poll on Monday following a second consecutive 2-0 weekend.
The Bluejays improved to 4-0 in BIG EAST play last weekend with matching 3-0 sweeps at Seton Hall and St. John's to improve to 11-4 overall. CU has now won 28 straight regular-season matches in conference play.
Creighton is 43-14 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 27 all-time polls, and are one of 17 clubs to be ranked in each of the last 13 editions. This is the first time in CU history the program has been ranked exactly 12th, and its top position since a No. 8 slotting on September 11, 2017.
The Bluejays, who have played the nation's second-toughest schedule according to the NCAA, have faced eight teams that are ranked in this week's poll (No. 9 Washington, No. 10 Kentucky, No. 11 Kansas, No. 15 USC, No. 18 Purdue, No. 20 Iowa State, No. 21 Northern Iowa and No. 24 Wichita State).
Florida remained in the top spot with 60-of-64 first-place votes, just ahead of No. 2 Stanford and No. 3 Penn State.
Monday also marked the unveiling of the first official RPI rankings from the NCAA. Creighton is eighth in those rankings, its best mark since being No. 7 on Oct. 28, 2013. The top five clubs in the RPI are Penn State, Florida, Texas, Minnesota and Kentucky. In other polls released on Monday, Creighton remained 13th in the VolleyMob.com poll, while also jumping one spot to 21st in the PrepVolleyball.com poll.
Creighton plays a pair of road matches this week, Thursday contest at league-leading Marquette that starts at 7 pm, and a Friday tilt at DePaul that will begin at 6 pm.
