May 5th, 2017 will mark the 12th Annual Leaders for Life Luncheon held at D.J. Sokol Arena inside the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center at Creighton University. The Creighton Athletics Leaders for Life Luncheon is the annual fundraising event that celebrates Creighton's female student-athletes. All Leaders for Life gifts will directly support the Leaders for Life Endowed Scholarship Fund to ensure the continued education and graduation of outstanding female leaders.
The Leaders for Life Luncheon allows female student-athletes the opportunity to thank the supporters of women's athletics who make it possible to compete in the BIG EAST and at the NCAA Division I level. Additionally, this Luncheon provides Creighton Athletics an occasion to honor two influential supporters of women's athletics for their continued leadership and advancement at Creighton and among the community.
This year, Creighton will honor former tennis student-athlete Judy (Richmeier) Pritza, BSN '92, MS '96 with the Leaders for Life Award during the luncheon. Pritza has played an integral role on the Leaders for Life committee since its inception and has been an advocate for women's athletics and Creighton University for many years. She is currently the chair of the Creighton College of Nursing Alumni Advisory Board and serves on the Children's Hospital Friends Board. Pritza has also held numerous roles on the AKSARBEN Women's Ball Committee and several other organizations in the Omaha community.
Â
Creighton will also honor Rhonda Hawks with the Believe and Achieve Award. Hawks, President of The Hawks Foundation, has been a longtime supporter of Creighton Athletics and has assumed numerous leadership roles within Omaha. Along with her husband, Howard, and colleague, Ken Stinson, Hawks founded the Behaviorial Health Support Foundation, which brought about the renovation and start-up of the Lasting Hope Recovery Center (LHRC) in Omaha as well as fund out-patient mental health services. She has been the recipient of the Leadership Family Award from Heartland Family Service, Habitat for Humanity's Power Woman of the Year, and the Humanitarian Award from the National Conference for Community Justice (NCCJ). Hawks is recognized as a passionate advocate for those living with mental illness.
