- The Bluejays own a 10-4 series lead and have always fared well against the Golden Eagles at home. Creighton is 6-0 in Omaha against Marquette. Creighton has won four of the last five meetings, but the last battle in Omaha (Feb. 19, 2016) was just a two-point affair, 83-81.
- Creighton posted an 83-63 win in the first meeting between the two teams in early January. Five Bluejays reached double-figures in the contest, led by 22 points from Brianna Rollerson.
- Both Creighton and Marquette enter Sunday's battle following a loss as the Bluejays dropepd a 60-56 game to #21 DePaul on Friday, while Marquette fell at Providence 66-64.
- Sunday's battle could go a long way towards clarifying or muddling BIG EAST standings. Entering at 8-2 Creighton has a one-game lead on Marquette for second place. If the Golden Eagles earn a win the two teams would be tied in second and have split the two meetings. A Creighton win would give the Bluejays a two-game edge on Marquette as well as a series sweep.
- Three members of the All-BIG EAST Freshman Team last season will be in action on Sunday in Creighton's Audrey Faber as well as Marquette's Allazia Blockton and Natisha Hiedeman. This season the trio continue to shine as Blockton averages 17.5 ppg, Hiedman is at 13.7 ppg, while Faber is at 13.1 ppg.

Scouting Marquette (16-5, 7-3 BIG EAST)
- Marquette has experienced the highs and lows of BIG EAST play over the last two games. First Marquette was the first team to best #21 DePaul, 102-101 in overtime, on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Golden Eagles, however, fell to tenth-place Providence 66-64 on Friday.
- Marquette likes to push the ball, creating a high volume of possessions. The Golden Eagles, however, can be prone to turnovers in the frentic pace.
- The key to Marquette's high powered offense (78.6 ppg) is the trio of Allazia Blockton (17.5 ppg), Natisha Hiedeman (13.7 ppg) and Erika Davenport (13.1 ppg).
- Ball Security: Marquette thrives when they can create turnovers and score in transition. The Golden Eagles put up 18 fast break points in the loss in the first meeting.
- Pound the ball to Rollerson: In the first meeting, Brianna was 10-of-14 from the field, scoring 22 points.
- Prevent slow starts: Creighton's undoing against DePaul was the opening minutes of the first and second halves. The Bluejays must find a way to limit the runs that Marquette goes on.
- Limit Blockton: It is important for the Bluejays to make her touches and shotsdifficult.
