#23 Kentucky Too Much As Volleyball Falls

Kentucky hits .415 in victory
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- No. 23 Kentucky hit .415 in a 3-0 sweep of No. 22 Creighton Volleyball on Saturday afternoon at the USC Radisson Classic in Los Angeles, Calif.
Scores of the match were 25-20, 25-22, 25-13.
Kentucky improved to 3-2 with the win, while Creighton is now 2-2.
Creighton fell behind 10-5 to start the match and quickly called a timeout. The Bluejays rallied within one point on five different occasions, but could not pull even before the Wildcats scored seven of the final 10 points in a 25-20 win. Jess Winters had five kills while Jess Bird added five digs in the frame.
The second set was easily the closest of the match, as the teams were tied 15 different times and traded the lead 10 times before the Wildcats pulled away late. The teams were even at 19-all before UK scored six of the final nine points of the set.
A 7-1 spurt in the third set helped UK race to an 8-4 lead, and the Wildcats never looked back.
Winters and Marysa Wilkinson each led CU with 10 kills, with Wilkinson hitting a team-best .360. Brittany Witt paced CU with 11 digs and three service aces. CU finished with 34 kills, 34 digs, four aces and three blocks on .142 hitting. CU had trouble siding out all afternoon, doing so successfully just 37-of-73 attempts.
Leah Edmond spurred UK with 11 kills in the contest and McKenzie Watson dished 36 assists. Ashley Dusek provided 18 digs and Kaz Brown supplied four blocks. Kentucky hit .415 with six aces, 44 digs and seven blocks.
Creighton returns to the court at 10 pm Central tonight when it faces tournament host USC (2-3). The Women of Troy defeated Kentucky 3-0 last night and Northern Iowa in four sets earlier on Saturday.
