Scouting Creighton (2015: 19-4-0)
The Bluejays opened the season with a 2-0 victory at No. 25 Rutgers on Friday night.
Lucas Stauffer and Riggs Lennon each scored as the Bluejays held a 22-4 advantage in shots.
Creighton returns five starters and 10 lettermen from last year's team that advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for a second straight season, led the nation in wins (19) and finished No. 6 in the year-end NSCAA poll.
The Bluejays were picked as the favorite to win the BIG EAST this season.Â
Senior Ricardo Perez returns as the leading goal-scorer and with the most experience in a Bluejay uniform of any player on the 2016 roster. Perez notched six goals, including four game-winners, during 2015 and has played in 65 matches (45 starts) at Creighton. The Ciudad Juarez, Mexico native, claimed a spot on the 2016 All-BIG EAST Preseason Team.
Senior Myles Englis and junior Ricky Lopez-Espin will also look to lead the Bluejay offense.
Lucas Stauffer (Preseason All-BIG EAST), Peter Prescott and Mitch LaGro return to guide a defense which held
opponents to 0.83 goals per game and recorded nine shutouts during 2015.
With the loss of three All-Americans, including MAC Hermann Finalist Fabian Herbers, Creighton welcomed 12 newcomers for the 2016 season, including senior tranfers Alex Kapp (Boston College) and Riggs Lennon (Virginia).
Scouting San Francisco (2015: 6-11-1)
San Francisco returns 10 starters and 19 letterwinners from last season's team that finished fourth in the West Coast Conference.
Davi Ramos and David Garrett garnered All-WCC Preseason Team honors as San Francisco was picked second in the WCC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Garrett returns after scoring seven goals to lead the Dons last season. His goal total tied for third in the WCC last season.
In goal, Andre Glasnovic made 15 starts as a freshman and recorded three shutouts.
The Dons fell to Nebraska-Omaha 3-1 in their season-opener on Friday night.
Head coach Eddie Soto is in his third season at the helm of San Francisco.
Series History vs. Dons
Creighton leads the all-time series against San Francisco 2-1-0. The Bluejays defeated the Dons 2-0 in the last meeting in 1997.
Goalkeeper Tom Zawislan (1996-99) recorded his first career shutout during the opening game of the Diadora Challenge in front an announced crowd of 1,954 at Tranquility Park.
San Francisco's lone win in the series came during the 1985 season in a neutral site match at the Air Force Academy.

Creighton opened the 2016 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Rutgers on Friday night. Lucas Stauffer converted a penalty kick before Riggs Lennon added a second goal.

Creighton's 22 shots on Friday night were the most in a season-opener since the Bluejays tallied 23 to open the 2004 season against Western Michigan.
The previous high for an Elmar Bolowich coached Creighton team was 21 in the 2013 season-opener against Tulsa.
Creighton also had 10 shots on goal against the Scarlet Knights on Friday night, the most in a lid-lifter since Creighton had 11 against Northern Illinois in 2012.
Corner Kicks Galore
The Bluejays opened the season with 13 corner kicks on Friday night. That total marked the most in a single game for Creighton under Elmar Bolowich, and the most since recording 15 at SMU on Nov. 21, 2010.
Creighton's previous high under Bolowich was 12 on Oct. 24, 2015 against Villanova.
Jays Find Success in Lid-Lifters
Creighton has now won its last seven season-opening matches, including a 2-0 victory over No. 25 Rutgers on Friday night and a 1-0 result over Michigan last season.
The Bluejays have not allowed a goal in seven of their last eight lid-lifters, including four consecutive matches. Creighton allowed one goal in a 3-1 victory over Northern Illinois in 2012.
CU's unbeaten streak stretches to 10 (8-0-2) in season-opening matches if you go back to a 2007 tie vs. San Diego State, and the Jays are 13-1-6 in its last 20 season lid-lifters.
