Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton point guard Marissa Janning was officially granted a medical hardship waiver for the 2015-16 season. Janning suffered a broken left fibula during the Bluejays' sixth game of the season, Creighton's victory over Eastern Washington on Nov. 28.
Janning worked diligently throughout the season in an attempt to return, but was unable to get back onto the court. Friday's news allows Janning to return to the floor for the 2016-17 season.
The Minnesota native has tallied 1,563 career points, good for ninth on the Creighton all-time scoring list. The 2013-14 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Player of the Year would need 597 points to become the Bluejays' all-time leading scorer.
"It is a relief to know that I will have an opportunity to conclude my collegiate career on the court," said Janning. "We have a great team coming back next season and I am excited to be a part of that."
