Creighton WBB Supplemental Notes #2 – vs. Seton Hall
- Seton Hall swept the season series with the Bluejays, taking the last meeting 77-71 in New Jersey on Feb. 26.
- Monday will be the first meeting in the BIG EAST Tournament between the Bluejays and Pirates.
- Since joining the BIG EAST Conference prior to the 2013-14 season, Creighton and Seton Hall have split the six meetings between the two schools.
- Creighton is 3-2 in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Bluejays defeated Butler in 2013-14, Providence on Friday and Villanova on Saturday. Both losses have come to St. John's.
- The 13 rebounds by Sydney Lamberty against Villanova set a Creighton single-game record.
- Monday's contest with the Pirates holds special meaning for the Bluejays. Creighton has a streak of eight consecutive seasons reaching the postseason. To have any chance to extend that streak the Bluejays must defeat the Pirates.
- Seton Hall's win over Marquette on Sunday likely ended the Golden Eagles season as Marquette fell under .500 to 14-15.
- Creighton has been the No. 7 seed in a conference tournament twice. The last time the Bluejays entered the tournament as the seven seed, Creighton won its first two games to advance to the MVC Finals in 1999.
- Sydney Lamberty's double-double (10 points and 13 rebounds) was the first time a player posted a double-double in a conference tournament game since the Bluejays current graduate manager Carli Tritz had 11 points and 10 rebounds against Northern Iowa during the 2012 Missouri Valley Tournament opener on March 9, 2012.
- In the two meetings with Seton Hall this season, freshman Audrey Faber leads the Bluejays with 34 combined points. Faber had 29 in the first meeting in Omaha on Dec. 31.
- The difference in each of the first two meetings between the Pirates and Bluejays has been one bad stretch by Creighton. In the first meeting the Bluejays were outscored 30-13 in the opening quarter. In New Jersey on Feb. 26 the Pirates used an 18-0 second quarter run to take control of the game.
- Despite trailing by more than 15 points in each contest, the Bluejays made it a one possession game in the final period.
- Tabitha Richardson-Smith has a combined 49 points in two contests with Creighton this season.
- The Pirates got 29 points and 18 rebounds from Tiffany Jones in the quarterfinal win over Marquette, but she has 21 points and 18 boards combined in the two games with the Bluejays.
- Long range shooting could be a huge factor on Monday. Seton Hall is 17-for-38 (44.7%) from distance against Creighton this season. The Bluejays, meanwhile, are 23-for-56 (41.1%) from beyond the arc.
