Maurice Watson Jr. Honored by NABC With All-District Honor

Watson led Creighton in scoring and assists this season
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton guard Maurice Watson Jr. has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I All-District 5 Second Team. He is Creighton's first representative on the All-District Team since Doug McDermott was named the NABC's National Player of the Year in 2013-14.
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes and coaches represent the finest basketball players and coaches across America.
A junior from Philadelphia, Pa., Watson led Creighton in scoring (14.1 ppg.) and assists (6.5 apg.) during the recently completed 2015-16 season. He was named Second Team All-BIG EAST after helping the Bluejays to a 20-15 overall mark.
The District 5 First Team consisted of Kris Dunn (Providence), Josh Hart (Villanova), Ben Bentil (Providence), Trevon Bluiett (Xavier) and Isaiah Whitehead (Seton Hall). Joining Watson on the Second Team was Henry Ellenson (Marquette), Ryan Arcidiacono (Villanova), Roosevelt Jones (Butler) and D'Vauntes Smith Rivera (Georgetown). Villanova's Jay Wright was selected as District 5 Coach of the Year.
