Omaha, Neb. -- Continuing to actively try to improve his Bluejay squad for the 2016 season, Creighton women's soccer head coach Ross Paule has added three more signees for next season. The additions of Gabriella Braga (Porto Alegre, Brazil) Kyleigh Crist (Parker, Colo.) and Amanda Lopez (Denver, Colo.) push Creighton's incoming 2016 class to 16.
A transfer from Monroe Junior College, Braga is a 5'1'' defender that helped Monroe claim the 2014 National Junior College Championship. Braga was the captain of the Mustangs and earned the penalty that led to the Mustangs National Title. Her Monroe coach referred to her as "the essence of the Monroe Program."
"Braga has the attitude of training to be her best, and making everyone else around her better," said Paule. "She is a defensive wingback that has the technical ability and work ethic to help us be successful on either side of the field. Â She is a proven winner, leader and brings a joyful mentality that is contagious."
Â
A 5'9'' defender, Kyleigh Crist hails from Parker, Colo. An All-Academic Team member, Crist has been the captain of her ECNL Club Team (Colorado Storm) for the last four seasons and has earned the player of the game honor six times.
"Kyleigh is a very determined defensive player that will help us be a very hard team to break down and has the technical ability to help us keep the ball and build out of the back," said Paule. "She also is a threat for us to score on attacking set pieces and corners."
Another Colorado import, Lopez is a 5'2'' midfielder from Faith Christian Academy. The 2015 MVP for the Eagles, Lopez was invited to train with the Mexican Women's National Team last season. She closed 2015 with a team-high 24 goals, earning all-conference honors.
"Amanda is a very technical midfielder that can create goals for others as well as herself," said Paule. "I see Amanda as an attacking midfielder because she is able to hold the ball in tight spaces and has the vision to find our forwards in the attacking third of the field. She also has the ability to score from the midfield that our opponents will have to respect. I look forward to coaching Amanda because she has the personal drive to make a difference."
