Lacy Claims First BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week Honor of 2016

New York, N.Y. -- Sophomore Rollie Lacy claimed his first BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honor of the 2016 season on Monday, March 14. Lacy led the Creighton baseball squad to its third consecutive weekend sweep as the Bluejays took three from UAB to push Creighton to 9-4 on the season.
Lacy earned a 2-1 victory on Friday holding Alabama-Birmingham to just seven hits with no walks in six innings of work. With an ERA of 1.50, the righty struck out six and allowed just one run. Creighton went on to sweep the series from the Blazers, the third straight series sweep for the Bluejays. Lacy preserved the Bluejays two-run lead through his six-innings of work, allowing just one to get through in the fourth inning.
The BIG EAST Player of the Week was Seton Hall's Mikael-Ali Mogues (1B). Mogues led Seton Hall to a perfect 4-0 week with one hit in every game for the Pirates. Mogues batted .357 with four walks, a double, four runs with a .500 on-base percentage. Mogues went 2-for-3 with a run, and RBI, a walk and a double in a 9-2 victory over NJIT, the Pirates' home-opener. In the Perfect Game Spring Swing in Emerson, Ga., Mogues had a hit and two walks in a 12-inning 4-3 victory over Savannah State. On Saturday against Iowa, scored two runs and registered an RBI and followed up with a two-hit outing on Sunday against Nebraska-Omaha. For the week he reached base 10 times.

Lacy and the Bluejays do not play a midweek before hosting North Dakota to open a three-game series on Friday, March 18 at 6:30 pm.

Beau Hall, Georgetown, Jr., OF
Hit .368 with a .421 slugging with one double, four runs and four RBI with four stolen bases in a five-game week for the Hoyas. Made a game-saving catch in Friday's 4-2 win over Penn. The Hoyas' series sweep of Penn was the first three-game sweep on an opponent since 2014.

Simon Mathews, Georgetown , Jr, RHP
Earned a win over Penn as he carried a no-hitter through five innings. In 8.0 innings, he boasted a 1.12 ERA with nine strikeouts and allowed just four hits. Struck out the side in the seventh.

Troy Dixon, St. John's, Jr., C
Batted .400 (6-for-15) with two doubles and five RBI to go with .533 slugging and .474 on-base percentage. He hit safely in three of four games with two multi-hit games.

Cullen Dana, Seton Hall, Fr., LHP
Earned a 1-0 win over Big Ten foe Iowa as he allowed just one earned run in 7.0 innings with three strikeouts and a 1.29 ERA. He scattered six hits with two walks.

Todd Czinege, Villanova, Jr., 2B
In five games, Czinege recorded four RBI, three walks, four runs and seven hits in 17 at bats. The second baseman hit .412 with a .500 on-base percentage and .765 slugging. Homered in the third inning against Fordham to score the first two Wildcat runs of the game for an eventual 11-3 win.
