Brown earns honor after winning Jackrabbit Invitational
NEW YORK, N.Y. --Â Creighton junior Kade Brown has been named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week after his outstanding recent performance.
He is the first Bluejay men's golfer to be honored as Player of the Week since Austin Miller on Sept. 15, 2010 back when Creighton was a member of the Missouri Valley Conference.
Â
Brown won the individual crown at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nevada, by shooting a 209 in the 54-hole event to pick up his first career title and fourth career top-5 finish. After sitting in ninth place after a first-round score of 71, the junior posted a score of 69 in the second and third rounds to claim the title.
He finished six strokes and ahead of the runner-up and helped the Bluejays to a fifth-place finish in their first competition of the spring.
Brown became the first Bluejay to win a meet since Johnny Spellerberg won the USD Coyote Classic on Sept. 29-30, 2014.
He leads the team in scoring average (73.6) and has shot par or better in seven of 15 rounds this season.
The Bluejays return to the course on March 21-22 in Springfield, Mo., when it participates in the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate.
