Vote four times a day for Creighton's point guard
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton University point guard Maurice Watson Jr. is one of seven candidates that are still in the running for State Farm Assist of the Year. The winner will receive a trip to attend the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-point Championships at the Final Four this April.
Watson is one of four contestants in round four of the competition, which began Monday at Noon at AssistOfTheYear.com, and runs until 11:59 am on Thursday.
Those who are interested may vote four times per day.
Watson's assist that is under consideration was a no-look pass to a trailing Martin Krampelj, who slammed it home for his first points as a Bluejay. That highlight vs. Texas Southern can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-erU_q1Vyk.
A junior from Philadelphia, Pa., Watson leads the BIG EAST with 190 assists and 6.6 assists per game. He's led or tied for the team lead in assists in each of the club's last 20 games. The 190 assists rank fifth-most in Creighton single-season history.
