Bluejays' spring schedule highlighted by matchups with FC Dallas, Swope Park Rangers
OMAHA, Neb. — Head Coach Elmar Bolowich and Creighton Men's Soccer have released the Bluejays' spring schedule, as announced on Monday.
Creighton's spring slate features ten contests, including matchups with the FC Dallas reserve team (April 3) and the Swope Park Rangers (March 19). The Swope Park Rangers are entering their inaugural season in the United Soccer League.
The Bluejays will play a pair of exhibition games on five different dates throughout the spring, comprising the ten-match schedule.
Creighton will kick off spring competition on Saturday, March 19 with its matchup at UMKC at 1:00 p.m., before taking on the Swope Park Rangers at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo., later that evening at 7:00 p.m.
The Bluejays will then travel to Texas and Colorado on consecutive weekends, taking on the FC Dallas reserve squad, Tyler Community College, Regis, and New Mexico.
Tyler has won NJCAA championships in four of the past seven years, most recently in 2014. Meanwhile, New Mexico clinched NCAA tournament berths for five consecutive seasons between 2009-13. In program history, the Lobos have twice made appearances in the College Cup (2005, 2013).
Creighton's matchup with Regis on Saturday, April 9 will take place at the Stermole Soccer Stadium on the campus of the Colorado School of Mines. The Bluejays' contest versus New Mexico later that day will be played at the Colorado Rapids' training facility at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park complex in Commerce City, Colo.
The Bluejays will then enjoy four consecutive matches in Omaha, including three contests at Morrison Stadium.
Creighton will play host to Denver and Bellevue on Saturday, April 16, and Midland on Saturday, April 23.
The Bluejays' spring finale will be part of Kicks for a Cure, an Omaha-based event that has helped raise more than $2 million for cancer research over the past decade. As part of the event, Creighton will take on Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m., at UNO's Caniglia Field. Meanwhile a few miles east, Creighton's women's soccer squad will host UNO at Morrison Stadium, also as part of Kicks for a Cure.
