Men's Basketball Now Ranked 10th In Both Polls

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team is ranked 10th in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, it was announced on Monday. It's the first time in program history that Creighton has been a top-10 team in either poll in consecutive weeks.

This week marks the fourth time in program history CU has been tabbed a top-10 team by AP poll, which started in 1949. The Bluejays were previously ranked ninth on February 24, 2014 and 10th the week of January 20, 2003, as well as last week.

CU has now been ranked 73 weeks in program history, with 45 of those under the direction of seventh-year head coach Greg McDermott.

The Bluejays are one of four BIG EAST teams in the top-16, as Villanova ranks first, Xavier is 13th and Butler is 16th.

Creighton also jumped two spots in this week's USA Today Coaches poll to 10th, its highest mark since also being 10th on Feb. 24, 2014. In its history Creighton has been as high as ninth in the USA Today Coaches poll on January 20, 2003.

Creighton (8-0) visits Nebraska (5-3) on Wednesday in a game that tips off at 8:06 pm in Lincoln. Fans can listen to the game on KOZN (1620 The Zone) or watch the action on BTN.
