Women's Tennis Concludes Play At ITA Central Region Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Creighton women's tennis team concluded play at the ITA Central Region Championships on Saturday at the Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
In the round of 32 doubles, Ashley Ishimura and Darby Rosette fell 8-7 to Rongrong Leenabanchong and Martha Matoula (Tulsa). Leenabanchong and Matoula ranked as high as 46th in the nation and finished last season 24-9 in doubles action, including a victory in the opening round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship.
In consolation doubles play, the pair of Michaela Henne and Katherine Nelsen fell 8-2 against Northern Iowa's Elvira Lopez and Astrid Santos.
Henne played the Bluejays' lone singles match on Saturday afternoon. The sophomore picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Allison Quammen (Arkansas State) in her final consolation match to conclude the event 2-1 in singles play.
