Janning Sidelined for Remainder of 2015-16 Season

Omaha, Neb. - Creighton women's basketball head coach Jim Flanery announced that senior Marissa Janning will not be able to return from the broken left fibula she suffered early this season. Janning will pursue a medical hardship waiver, with hopes to return to the floor for the Bluejays next season.
Janning went down in the closing moments of regulation during Creighton's victory over Eastern Washington on Nov. 28. She has steadily attempted to get back onto the court, but her recovery has taken significantly longer than expected and both Janning as well as Flanery felt it was better to make this decision public.
"Marissa has been trying very diligently to work her way back to the court," said Flanery. "The pain she has been feeling has limited her more than we anticipated. She is far from getting through a practice and we no longer feel she can return this season."
"This has been a very difficult process in a lot of ways," said Janning. "I was hoping to get back on the floor with my teammates this season, but I'm so far from 100% it just isn't possible."
