OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton men's basketball head coach Greg McDermott has announced that forward Leon Gilmore III will transfer. A native of Manvel, Texas, Gilmore recently completed his freshman season with the Bluejays.
Gilmore played in eight games as a reserve during the 2014-15 campaign, averaging 1.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in 4.9 minutes per game. He was the only true freshman to see playing time on last year's team.
“I loved my time, my teammates and the fans here, but I feel it's best for me to transfer to another school in which I can have a more immediate impact,” said Gilmore.
“We're sorry to see a young man of Leon's character and ability decide to transfer out of the program, but wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors,” said McDermott.

I was treated well here in Omaha. The people here are amazing! It's tough leaving but I have to do what's best for me.
